About Rajesh Sethi MD, MRCP (UK)

Dr. Sethi is Board certified in Neurology and in Electrodiagnostic Medicine and has been practicing neurology in the Northern Virginia area for over 25 years.

Dr. Sethi is highly trained and experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. He serves as a neurology consultant to your primary care physician and other specialists. Reports of consultations and follow-up visits with Dr. Sethi are communicated to referring primary care physicians, or to other designated health-care professionals.

Dr. Sethi completed his Neurology residency from University of Massachusetts, Worcester, MA in 1986 and a 2-year Neurophysiology fellowship at Brigham and Women hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA (1986-1988). The additional 2-year post residency training in Boston included learning technical details and interpretation of commonly used tests in neurology such as Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Study (EMG/NCS); Electroencephalography (EEG)/ Ambulatory electroencephalography; Visual evoked responses (VER); Brainstem auditory responses (BAER) and Somatosensory evoked responses (SER).

Dr. Sethi’s office provides testing and interpretation of all these tests in the office. The office also provides interpretation of sleep studies for sleep related disorders, which can be arranged at sleep laboratories convenient for the patient throughout Northern Virginia.

Dr. Sethi trained in internal medicine in England (UK) for 6 years (1977-1983), including rotations in several sub specialties like cardiology, gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine and obtained the prestigious Member of the Royal College of Physicians -MRCP (UK) certifications after a written and clinical examination. This certification is the equivalent of board certification in internal medicine in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Sethi completed his medical education and internship from the Christian Medical College (well renowned in India) in Punjab, India in 1976. The college had teaching staff from the USA, England and India.

Dr. Sethi has authored the popular Electromyographers Handbook (second edition, Little Brown and Company, 1989). The book teaches techniques and interpretation of tests for the evaluation of diseases of the spinal cord, nerves and muscles. He has performed EMG/NCS at the Inova Fairfax and Alexandria Hospitals for over 20 years.

The training has given Dr. Sethi a broad base of international training and experience which has served him well in treating the patients in his private practice.
